Why should you give?

 

Throughout MUST Ministries’ history, private philanthropy and community support have played a critical role in serving our neighbors in need. Since the earliest years of MUST, friends, churches, businesses, organizations, and local government have confirmed their confidence in the MUST vision. Their generosity has made possible the unique position we are in today. We have more programs, more space, more successes, but, unfortunately, more need than ever before.

MUST was awarded a "challenge grant" from the Kresge Foundation for its Build, We MUST Capital Campaign.  With a total goal of $6.8M, MUST is required to raise the first $6.3M. If this is accomplished, The Kresge Foundation will provide the remaining $500,000.  To date, MUST has received a total of $5.3M in total gifts and pledges.  The deadline is fast approaching for MUST to meet this challenge grant: March 31, 2010.  To read more about the Kresge Foundation, click here.

 

The Kresge Foundation awards facilities capital as a challenge grant to help nonprofit organizations build their base of private financial support as they conduct capital campaigns to build or renovate their facilities. Facilities capital challenge grants are awarded to organizations that cater specifically to the needs of poor, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in six fields of interest: health, the environment, arts and culture, education, human services, and community development.

Today, private giving provides all within our community the opportunity to participate in the ideas that will shape the future of MUST. A gift to the Build, We MUST Capital Campaign will help MUST to continue to minister to the powerless and the suffering.  Your gift will honor our ministry, heritage and community values, and point us toward expressing these values many years into the future.

In 2009, we were able to move into the new Foothills property located one mile north of the Elizabeth Inn Campus. At the Foothills property, MUST serves those living in poverty with food, clothing, education, employment, and financial assistance. The timeliness of this new building has allowed us to serve over 30% increase in clients during these economic times. With the completion of phase 1 of the project, MUST immediately began planning for a new MUST clinic which is now under construction. The total cost of the Foothills Property and the clinic is $6.8 million.
