Community Service

MUST Ministries is the largest user of Court ordered Community Service work in Cobb county.

Each month we use approximately 7,000 hours of CS work. MUST accepts CS workers from all courts, even out of state.

  • At MUST Cherokee, work can start at 7:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm each week day.
  • At MUST Marietta, CS work can start at 5:30 am and ends at 8:30 pm each day; Monday through Sunday.
  • At MUST Smyrna, work can start at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm each week day.

The work consists of many different types of tasks; helping receive donations at our Donation Center, making meals in the Kitchen, distributing food or clothing in the Pantry or MUSTwear, working in the Homeless shelter, cleaning the grounds, offices or buildings. At the end of community service each worker receives a completion letter that confirms to the court that the stated hours were done at MUST.

For people 18 years or older, Community Service starts at MUST by going through an orientation. At the orientation we answer your questions, do the paper work and give you an opportunity to put your name on the Community Service calendar. Orientation lasts one hour (you receive credit for that hour).

  • At MUST Cherokee, orientation occurs Monday through Friday at 7:30 am. Contact Dale Cooper at 678-218-4506 if you have any questions.
  • At MUST Marietta, orientation is conducted in the Loaves and Fishes Kitchen (building "D") on Monday and Wednesday at 4:00 pm and on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 am. Contact Lawrence Yuille at 770-427-9862 ext 1119 if you have any questions.
  • At MUST Smyrna, orientation begins by the rear double doors on Monday and Thursday at 9:00 am. Due to Outreach programs in the Smyrna office there will be NO ORIENTATIONS during the months of June, July, August, and December. You should attend the orientation in Marietta.   • Orientation does NOT occur on holidays

At orientation, you must have a photo ID. The only restrictions to doing CS work at MUST are that you must speak/understand English, be able bodied, and not have been a client in the last six months.
